Yubadon Naokichi

Yubadon Naokichi is a must-visit restaurant located in Hakone, Japan. It is a popular spot among locals and is walking distance from Hakone Yumoto station. Its set menu offers an amazing variety of tofu dishes, such as a single ice cubed unsweetened soy milk, room temperature soy skin with wasabi, cold tofu with grated bitter ginger and spring onions, hot tofu skin clay pot soup cooked with dashi, mushroom and coriander, and pickles and rice. The set menu also includes a small plum pickle, choice of either soy skin or tofu with boiled red beans, and a cup of hot hojicha. The price is very affordable, at ¥2300 (about $16 US), and the portion is big. The restaurant also offers a Chinese and English menu, as well as a Korean menu, and the service is excellent. There may be a bit of a wait to get in, but it is well worth it. The atmosphere is pleasant and the experience is unique.
