Before You Plan: How Da Lat Works
Da Lat sits at about 1,500 m in the Central Highlands. Days are mild, nights are cold, and the city spreads across pine-covered hills. The centre is walkable, but the big sights — waterfalls, coffee farms, Lang Biang — are outside town.
That shapes every good itinerary: explore the centre on foot in the evenings, and use a tour or a driver for the countryside during the day. Tours pick up from the hostel, so you don't need to rent a motorbike to see the best of the area.
Book tours at reception the day before. Every plan below starts and ends at Mooka's Home, 02 Co Loa, Xuan Huong ward — about 5 minutes on foot from the lake and 10 from the night market.
1 Day in Da Lat
Short on time? Put the day into the countryside — the city centre is at its best in the evening anyway.
The best of Da Lat in one day
Morning
Join the Da Lat Waterfalls Tour (8:00 pickup at the hostel). It covers Elephant Falls, Linh An Pagoda, Pongour and Datanla in one day — the most efficient way to see the countryside when time is short.
Afternoon
The tour runs through the afternoon and drops you back around 16:30. Rest up and grab a coffee before heading out again.
Evening
Walk 5 minutes to Xuan Huong Lake, then carry on to the Da Lat night market (about 10 minutes on foot from the hostel) for grilled rice paper, hot soy milk and street food.
2 Days in Da Lat
The classic stop between Saigon and the coast: one day for the city, one for a tour.
Walkable city & night market
Morning
Arrive and leave your bags at reception (open 8:00–22:00). Walk 5 minutes to Xuan Huong Lake, loop part of it on foot and continue to Lam Vien Square.
Afternoon
Take a short Grab ride to Crazy House and the French colonial villas nearby, then a café with a pine-forest view. Check-in is from 14:00.
Evening
Night market on foot (~10 minutes). Book tomorrow's tour at reception before you go out — pickup is from the hostel.
Waterfalls or adventure
Morning
Pick one: canyoning at Datanla (7:30 pickup, three abseils and a zipline) for adrenaline, or the waterfalls day tour (8:00 pickup) for sightseeing.
Afternoon
Canyoning gets you back around 15:30; the waterfalls tour around 16:30. Either leaves time for a hot shower before dinner.
Evening
Catch an overnight sleeper bus onward. Reception books it and the bus picks you up at the hostel about an hour before departure — see the Da Lat bus schedule.
3 Days in Da Lat (Our Recommendation)
Three days covers the city, one adventure and one countryside day without rushing.
The city on foot
Morning
Xuan Huong Lake (5 minutes' walk) and Lam Vien Square. Coffee by the water.
Afternoon
Crazy House, a flower garden and the colonial villas. Short Grab rides link them.
Evening
Night market (~10 minutes on foot). Dress warmly — nights drop to around 10–15°C.
Canyoning at Datanla
Morning
7:30 pickup for Datanla canyoning: three abseils, a zipline and swimming through the canyon with guides.
Afternoon
Back at the hostel around 15:30. Keep the rest of the afternoon easy — you will be tired.
Evening
Dinner near the lake or back at the night market, swapping canyoning stories with other guests.
Countryside by motorbike
Morning
Ride pillion on the Easy Rider motorbike tour($30 half- or full-day options, $40 "Big Circle"): coffee farms, flower farms, villages and viewpoints that are hard to find on your own.
Afternoon
On a half-day option, use the afternoon for Truc Lam Pagoda and the cable car, or a strawberry farm.
Evening
One last night market run, or an overnight bus onward with pickup at the hostel.

Follow the 3-day plan above, then add a fourth day for something most short-stay visitors miss.

Morning
Two good options: Mr Rot's Secret Tour (full day, lunch included) for hidden local spots, or Mario Kart & Mongo Land for a lighter, playful day. Prefer no tour? Head up Lang Biang mountain.
Afternoon
If you did canyoning on Day 2, this is a good slot to fit in the waterfalls you haven't seen yet.
Evening
Check-out is at 12:00, but you can leave your bag at reception until your evening bus picks you up.

Rainy-Day Swaps
From May to October, Da Lat usually gets its rain in the afternoon while mornings are often clear — so keep tours early and move indoor plans to the afternoon. Check our Da Lat rainy season guide before you fix your dates.

How many days do you need in Da Lat?
Two to three days is ideal for most travellers. Two days covers the city and one tour; three days lets you add both an adventure day (canyoning) and a countryside day (waterfalls or Easy Rider) without rushing. Four days suits slow travellers.
Is 2 days in Da Lat enough?
Yes, if you plan it: spend day one walking around Xuan Huong Lake, Lam Vien Square and the night market, and day two on a waterfalls tour or canyoning at Datanla. You can leave on an overnight sleeper bus that evening.
What should I do on a rainy day in Da Lat?
Rain from May to October usually comes as afternoon showers, so book tours for the morning and keep afternoons for cafés, Crazy House or the Truc Lam cable car. Canyoning depends on water levels and may be moved to another day after heavy rain.
How much does a 3-day trip to Da Lat cost?
