Quick answer: Da Lat to Hoi An by bus
The overnight sleeper bus from Da Lat to Hoi An and Da Nang takes about 12 hours and costs from 580,000 VND. It departs at 17:30 and 18:30 and arrives the next morning. There are also daytime Da Lat to Da Nang buses at 14:00, 15:00, 17:00 and 18:00 (34-seat VIP, 530,000 VND, about 14 hours).
The main alternative is flying from Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) to Da Nang (DAD), about 1 hour 20 minutes in the air. It is faster, but the bus saves you a night in a bed and takes you from the hostel door. We book bus tickets at reception at Mooka's Home, 02 Co Loa, Da Lat, with free pickup about 1 hour before departure, payment at reception and free cancellation up to 24 hours before. Prices may rise on Vietnamese public holidays.

Which overnight bus? 3 rows, 2 rows or cabin with toilet
The seat count tells you how much space you get.
34-seat VIP sleeper (3 rows)
580,000 VND
Departs 17:30, 18:30
The standard overnight berth and the cheapest way to do the trip. Fine if you sleep easily on buses.
24-seat VIP sleeper (2 rows)
770,000 VND
Departs 17:30, 18:30
Only two rows of berths, so wider and more private with more room around you. A real upgrade for 12 hours.
22-seat VIP (2 rows) + toilet
750,000 VND
Departs 17:30, 18:30
Two-row cabin with an onboard toilet, which is handy on a long night and means fewer stops to wait for.
Da Nang day bus, 34-seat VIP
530,000 VND
Departs 14:00, 15:00, 17:00, 18:00
Daytime departures to Da Nang take about 14 hours, so the long ones run into the night too.
On a short ride we would say take the cheapest seat. On a 12-hour night, the extra 170,000 to 190,000 VND for a 2-row cabin is worth thinking about. Fewer rows mean fewer neighbours, a bit more width and better sleep, and you arrive in a better state to enjoy your first day. The 22-seat option with a toilet is the one to pick if you hate waiting for rest stops.

Overnight
Sleep
Berths recline, and blankets are usually provided. The air conditioning can be strong, so wear socks and a jacket.
Early morning
Arrive Da Nang / Hoi An
After about 12 hours you arrive while the city is waking up. Many hotels will not have rooms ready, so plan for breakfast and a coffee first.
- Snacks and water. Buy these before you go. Rest-stop food is basic and stops are short.
- Charge your phone. Top up your battery and power bank before pickup.
- Jacket, socks and an eye mask. Air conditioning runs cold and lights come on at stops.
- Small day bag. Keep your passport, money and charger with you. Your main bag goes in the hold.
- Motion sickness. The first stretch out of Da Lat is winding, so take medication early if you need it.
Arriving in Hoi An or Da Nang
You arrive early in the morning. Da Nang is the big beach city with an airport, and Hoi An is the lantern-lit old town a short ride south. Most hotels cannot give you a room that early, so ask yours to hold your bags, then head out for breakfast and a walk. In Hoi An the old town and the riverside are at their quietest and prettiest before the crowds arrive.
Drop-off points depend on the bus company, so tell us where you are staying and we will confirm the closest one with our partner bus companies. If you are linking this with a beach stop first, see Da Lat to Mui Ne, or for Saigon see Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City.
Hoi An to Da Lat
Going the other way, from Hoi An or Da Nang up to Da Lat? The same partner bus companies run the route in reverse, and it is a similar long overnight ride. Message us on WhatsApp with your date and where you are staying, and we will arrange the seat. Arrive in Da Lat to cool mountain air, so keep a jacket handy.
