Limousine van vs sleeper bus

Three vehicle types run Da Lat to Mui Ne. All take roughly the same time.

12-seat limousine van

320,000 VND

Departs 8:00, 11:30, 14:00, 15:00

Small van with the most departures. Best if you want flexibility in your day.

34-seat VIP sleeper (3 rows)

300,000 VND

Departs 7:30, 13:30

Reclining sleeper berths in three rows. The cheapest option, with room to stretch out.

44-seat sleeper

300,000 VND

Departs 9:00, 17:00

The larger sleeper coach, and the one with a 17:00 departure for a later start.

For a 4-hour daytime ride the difference is small. The limousine van costs 20,000 VND more but gives you four departure times, so it is the easiest to fit around a late breakfast or a checkout. The sleepers are cheaper and have space to lie back, which is nice if you slept badly. Because Mui Ne is a short trip, you do not need to pay for anything fancier; the standard options are fine.

What the road is like

Da Lat sits at about 1,500 m, and Mui Ne is at sea level. That means most of the trip is a long descent. You leave the pine forests and coffee farms behind, wind down a mountain pass with wide views over the valleys, and finish on the flatter coastal plain. The scenery changes fast: green and cool in the first hour, dry, sunny and sandy as you near the sea.

The pass has many bends, so if you get carsick, sit near the front and take medication before you board. Bring a jacket or hoodie too. Buses run strong air conditioning, and you will go from chilly highland air to beach heat within a couple of hours. Keep your phone charger, water and valuables in a small day bag, because your main bag goes in the hold. Expect a short comfort stop along the way.

What to do when you arrive in Mui Ne

Mui Ne is a long beach strip with a laid-back fishing-village feel at one end and resorts and cafes along the rest. Most visitors come for a few things:

  • Sand dunes. The red and white dunes are popular at sunrise and sunset, when the light is soft and the heat is lower.
  • Fishing village. Early morning is when colourful boats come in and the catch is sorted on the beach.
  • Kitesurfing and wind sports. The coast is known for steady wind, so lessons and rentals are easy to find.
  • Seafood and slow evenings. After the cool of Da Lat, many travellers are happy to swim and do very little.

You can book the return through us too. Message us on WhatsApp with your date and where you are staying in Mui Ne, and we will arrange the seat. If you want a bed waiting for you, book a room at our Da Lat hostel and tell us your arrival time.

Prefer a motorbike? Easy Rider alternative

Some travellers choose an Easy Rider, where a local rider takes you by motorbike with stops along the way, instead of a bus. It takes much longer than 4 hours but is more of an adventure. Read about our Easy Rider tours, and ask us about a one-way Easy Rider transfer from Da Lat to Mui Ne. If you only want the quickest, cheapest option, the bus is the better choice.
